A traveller planning a Udaipur trip can now type the whole question into an AI tool and get back a short list of hotels. If yours isn’t on that list, you don’t get a chance to compete on price or service. This guide shows what those questions look like, what AI tools need from you, and a checklist built for Udaipur.
For the general version, read What is AEO for hotels? This guide applies it to Udaipur.
What do travellers ask AI tools about Udaipur?
They ask specific questions with several conditions. These are examples of the kind of questions travellers type, not real logs:
- “Lake-view hotel near City Palace under ₹10,000 a night.”
- “Quiet boutique hotel in Udaipur with a rooftop restaurant, walking distance to the ghats.”
- “Family-friendly hotel near Fateh Sagar with parking, for 3 nights in December.”
- “Budget guest house in Udaipur old city, good for solo female travellers.”
- “उदयपुर में झील के पास होटल, ₹5,000 तक” (a hotel near the lake in Udaipur, up to ₹5,000).
Each question has a location, a feature and a budget. An AI tool can only name your hotel if it can find those three things about you, clearly, in what’s published online.
What does an AI tool need to recommend your Udaipur hotel?
Clear, specific and consistent facts, found in the places AI tools read.
- Your website. Google says there are no special requirements for its AI features beyond the basics: pages it can crawl and index, with the important content in text.[1] ChatGPT search relies on OpenAI’s search crawler, and sites that block it won’t appear in ChatGPT search answers.[2] Perplexity surfaces and links websites through its own crawler.[3]
- Your Google Business Profile. Google says local results depend on relevance, distance and prominence, and that complete, accurate information makes a business more likely to show.[4] Verified hotel profiles can edit their services and amenities.[5]
- Your OTA pages. Many travellers check them, and they’re another place your details are published. They should match your website.
- Reviews. What guests write about your view, rooftop or location adds evidence. Google prohibits offering incentives for reviews and selectively asking only happy guests.[6]
Nobody controls what an AI tool says, and answers vary from day to day. What you control is how clear and consistent the facts about your hotel are.
What’s the Udaipur-specific checklist?
| Fact | Where to state it | Example wording |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Website, Google, OTAs | “In the old city, 5 minutes’ walk from Gangaur Ghat” (use your real figure) |
| Distances | Website, Google description | Walking time to the City Palace and Lake Pichola; drive time to the airport and Udaipur City station |
| View | Room pages, OTA room names | “Full lake view”, “partial lake view”, “city view”, room by room |
| Rooftop | Website, Google amenities | Hours, what’s served, sunset view |
| Price band | Website | A clear “from” rate per room type and season |
| Who you suit | Website | Couples, families, solo travellers, small groups |
| Parking, lift, accessibility | Website, Google, OTAs | Stated plainly; old-city lanes make this a common question |
| Languages and transfers | Website, WhatsApp | Languages spoken; airport and station pickup |
Then add structured data that matches what’s visible on the page: schema.org’s Hotel type includes properties such as check-in and check-out times, amenities, number of rooms and price range.[7] Our 15-point AI visibility checklist covers this in more detail.
Be specific about place names. Rajasthan Tourism describes the City Palace as lying along the eastern bank of Lake Pichola, with Fateh Sagar to the north, linked by a canal.[8] Using the same names travellers use (Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar, City Palace, Gangaur Ghat) helps an AI tool match your hotel to their question.
How can you test it yourself?
Run the same set of questions every month and keep a simple record.
- Write 8 to 10 questions your real guests ask, like the examples above, with your area, a feature you have and a budget you fit.
- Ask each one in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, in a fresh chat.
- Note three things: whether you’re named, whether the details are right, and which competitors appear.
- Fix the source, not the answer. If a tool gets your view or location wrong, find where that’s coming from (your site, Google, an OTA) and correct it there.
- Repeat monthly and compare. One answer means little; a pattern over months means something.
What this means for hotel owners
- Say what makes you right for the question, in plain words: view, location, rooftop, budget, who you suit.
- Say it the same way everywhere: website, Google, OTAs.
- Earn honest reviews that mention those things, without incentives.
- Check monthly, with the same questions across all four tools.
