Jaipur's Events and Peak-Season Calendar: How Hotels Can Plan Pricing and Staffing

In Jaipur, a handful of dates can decide whether a month is good or great. The trouble is that several of them move every year, and the best rooms go to hotels that publish their plans early. This guide lists Jaipur’s recurring events with official dates where they’ve been announced, and shows how to plan rates, minimum stays, staffing and packages around them.

Dates change every year. The dates below come from Rajasthan Tourism and the festivals’ official sites as of October 2026. Check the official listings before you set rates.

What’s on Jaipur’s calendar, month by month?

Month Event or season Timing Likely demand effect Source
October to March Main tourist season Winter Highest demand of the year Rajasthan Tourism[4]
January Kite Festival 14 January every year; festivities peak in Jaipur Very high around the date Rajasthan Tourism[1][2]
January Jaipur Literature Festival 2027: 14 to 18 January, Hotel Clarks Amer Very high in the days around it JLF official site[3]
March or April Gangaur Chaitra month; listed as 21 to 22 March in 2026 and 9 to 10 April in 2027 Higher, especially for culture-focused guests Rajasthan Tourism[1][2]
April to June Summer Very hot Low for leisure; business continues Rajasthan Tourism[4]
July or August Teej Monsoon (Sawan); listed as 14 to 15 August in 2026 and 4 to 5 August in 2027 A boost in a quiet season Rajasthan Tourism[1]
December Year-end holidays Late December High; December is India’s peak month for foreign arrivals Ministry of Tourism[5]

The “likely demand effect” column is our reasoning from the size and timing of each event, not measured data. Rajasthan Tourism describes Gangaur as celebrated in the month of Chaitra (March to April),[2] and Teej as a monsoon festival whose festivities peak in Jaipur.[2] Its event page listed Teej 2026 as 15 to 16 August, a day later than its published 2024 to 2030 list, which shows why checking matters.[1][2]

The state is also trying to grow events: its 2025 tourism policy lists the Kite Festival (Jaipur) among the fairs and festivals it will encourage on a grander scale.[6]

How far ahead do guests book for big events?

There’s no public data on booking windows for Jaipur events, so work from your own history. Pull last year’s bookings for the Kite Festival, the Jaipur Literature Festival week and the late-December holidays, and note when each booking was made. That tells you when to open event rates next year.

As a starting rule, have event rates and rules in place as soon as dates are confirmed. For the Jaipur Literature Festival, the January 2027 dates were already on the official site by October 2026.[3]

How should you set event pricing and minimum stays?

Price by demand and protect your best nights.

  1. Set event rates early and publish them on your own website first, then in your channel manager, so they’re the same everywhere.
  2. Use minimum stays narrowly: a two-night minimum on the one or two peak nights of an event can stop one-night bookings breaking up longer stays. Don’t apply it to the whole month.
  3. Price the shoulder nights: the nights just before and after an event often fill with guests who couldn’t get the peak nights. Price them between peak and normal.
  4. Review as the date approaches. If you’re filling fast, hold rates. If rooms are empty close to the date, relax the minimum stay before cutting the rate.

How should you plan staffing and operations?

Busy event days stretch a small team. Plan for:

  • Arrivals and departures: more check-ins on the same afternoon, and late arrivals for festival evenings.
  • Food and beverage: early breakfasts for literature festival-goers, rooftop evenings during the Kite Festival.
  • Transport: shuttles or arranged taxis to event venues, and clear advice on traffic and parking.
  • Housekeeping: faster turnarounds on back-to-back peak nights.
  • WhatsApp: more enquiries in the weeks before. Prepare answers about dates, rates, minimum stays and transport.

Book extra staff and suppliers early. They’re busy on the same dates.

Which packages earn direct bookings?

Packages turn an event into a reason to book with you, not just a reason to visit Jaipur. Examples to adapt:

  • Kite Festival rooftop package: a room with rooftop access on 14 January, kites, snacks and dinner.
  • Literature festival stay: breakfast from early morning, a daily shuttle or arranged taxi to the venue, and a late checkout on the last day.
  • Gangaur or Teej culture stay: a guided walk to see the procession and a traditional meal.
  • Winter weekend from Delhi: two nights, breakfast and an arranged day trip to Amer.

Sell these on your own website and WhatsApp, where you keep the full value. See how independent Jaipur hotels can compete for more direct-booking ideas.

When should you start promoting each event?

Work back from your own booking history. If last year’s Kite Festival bookings came in mostly in the six weeks before, that’s when your promotion needs to be strongest, and your content needs to start before then. A simple sequence for each major event, to adjust to your own numbers:

When What to do Where
As soon as dates are confirmed Publish the package and event rates Your own website
Before your usual booking window Post about the event itself: what it is, where to watch, what to know before you go Instagram reels, carousels and stories
During the booking window Show the stay: the rooftop, the breakfast, the shuttle. Run ads to people likely to travel for it Instagram, Facebook, Google Search
Final weeks Remind people who looked but didn’t book, and answer enquiries fast Retargeting ads, WhatsApp
After the event Share real guest moments, with their permission, ready for next year Instagram

Content about the event reaches people who haven’t chosen a hotel yet. Ads work best once they’re ready to book. Our Social Media Management service plans the event content, and Performance Marketing runs the ads around your booking window.

What this means for hotel owners

  1. Put next year’s dates in your calendar now, from Rajasthan Tourism’s list and the festivals’ own sites, and recheck them each quarter.
  2. Open event rates early and publish them on your own site first.
  3. Use minimum stays only on true peak nights.
  4. Plan staff, food and transport for the busiest days well ahead.
  5. Build one package per major event and promote it to past guests who’ve agreed to hear from you.
  6. Time your promotion to your booking window: event content first, then ads, then reminders.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Jaipur Literature Festival?

Usually in January. The next edition, the festival's 20th, runs from 14 to 18 January 2027 at Hotel Clarks Amer, according to the official Jaipur Literature Festival website. Check the official site for the programme and any changes.

What's the busiest month in Jaipur?

There's no official month-by-month count of Jaipur visitors. Winter is the main season, and January stands out because the Kite Festival (14 January) and the Jaipur Literature Festival fall in it. Nationally, December is the busiest month for foreign tourist arrivals. Your own occupancy history is the best guide for your hotel.

How early should I raise prices for events?

As soon as the dates are confirmed, which for many Jaipur events is months ahead. Publish event rates on your own website first, and set them in your channel manager at the same time so they're consistent everywhere. Review them again as the date approaches based on how fast you're filling.

Do minimum-stay rules hurt bookings?

They can, if they're too strict or set on the wrong nights. On a few peak dates, a two-night minimum stops one-night bookings blocking longer stays. Outside those dates it can turn guests away. Use them narrowly, watch what happens, and relax them if rooms stay empty close to the date.
